This log will follow the progress of the Heavy Support Units
After reading various books from the Black Library and following various modellers and painters on
I decided I would like to attempt to build my own Space Marine army. If for no other reasons than to give me some relief from painting Orks.
So after much searching through various books(Space Marine Codex and How To Paint Space Marines) and websites I decided as you may have quessed to create A Sons of Orar army. Nothing huge, just a couple of Tactical Squads with Rhino's, Some Land Speeders or Bikes and possiblely some Predators. Oh an of course, every Army needs a Captain!.
With the army decided and possible composition I then had to decide what to buy and where from. After having spent lots of money on
kit, i did not think my loving wife would agree to let me buy more. I already have the AOBR from which I have the Orks and my youngest son has the Marines(How this website came into being) and I also have another unopened AOBR box but I want to use the project to try and apply all the different areas of the miniature hobby into one project. As the Sons of Orar apparently have a lot of Corvus Pattern MK VI Power Armour I would like to make the shoulder pads, etc myself. One of the many challenges I face, never having done anything like this before.
So, where do you go to get some "Beakies"? Where else but Ebay. What i was hoping to get was some old painted figures, some of which were "Beakies" or maybe even had the MK VI power armour as well. Obviously, I will be using some poetic licence here. In my mind, the Sons of Orar have been on the go for that last 1000 years and as such they will have a mix of old and new power armour. I don't need to have all old figures, just ones that I can adapt to suit my needs and give my squads some character. If some have the "Beakie" helmet and they all have studded left shoulder pads, then I will be happy. So here goes...
